Employees must have a fit test completed once a year, if they gain or lose mass weight or if they change respirator brand, model, or size.
A qualitative fit test must be conducted in accordance to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 and CSA Z94.4-11 when a respirator is issued to an individual to ensure that the wearer is able to achieve a satisfactory fit. Only respirators which have been demonstrated through qualitative fit testing to provide adequate protection will be provided for use. Two methods of testing available by means of Stannic Chloride or Bitrex depending on sensitivities or preferences.
